Shadow Acts

This performance by Attraction on Britain’s Got Talent has been receiving a good deal of exposure online and rightfully so. It really is impressive and they should be very happy with it.

However it did remind me of this Gruppe Pilobolus performance which is, in my opinion, far superior.

Brent and Johnson – Equality Street [Official Music Video]

This is the official music video David Brent (Ricky Gervais) and Dom Johnson (Doc Brown) put together for Comic Relief. It’s brilliant. Ricky Gervais is a genius. Biddly-biddly-biddly-biddly-bong.

This is the sketch that preceded the music video showing Brent in all his Office glory. It’s worth watching as well.

SNL’s Djesus Uncrossed

It almost goes without saying that Saturday Night Live is no longer as popular or funny as it used to be in the days of Will Ferrell etc. however occasionally they are still capable of putting together a really great sketch. In the first series the show took a rather scary look at the future based on societal trends right now. Based on this teaser for the second season it looks like we can look forward to similar greatness in the second season.

Charlie Brooker’s brilliant poem about The Sun Newspaper and Witch Hunts on 10 O’Clock live

When I first saw 10 O’Clock Live advertised I was very excited by the prospect of a show featuring comedian Jimmy Carr, David Mitchell (of the brilliant Peep Show among other things) and Charlie Brooker (who I became a fan of after watching Black Mirror last year). I only watched about half of the first episode before changing the channel. The show was too scripted and the brilliance of all the aforementioned men seemed to have been watered down into something more acceptable for TV. It was all very disappointing.  However Brooker’s poem about The Sun Newspaper and witch hunts featured in this clip is pretty awesome and has successfully encouraged me to give the show a second chance.
